The band Stand Atlantic unveiled their new single. We swear we are not crying, we just have a dust in the eye...
There are too many emotions rushing around. When you first discover the song, then the video, you might as well say that you are absolutely not ready for two successive slaps like this.
Either listen to the song and then watch the video, or you do both at the same time, but we can’t assure you that your little heart will hold up either way.
First of all, the song itself: from the first sentence, you know it's going to be a slap, in a good way.
The singular voice of Bonnie Fraser takes us to the guts directly. Her voice is very flexible and mastered to perfection, and it doesn't take much to cover the listener with chills.
The meaningful lyrics (I'll pick my poison, I'm indifferent, and I drink to drown) and the instrumental go extremely well together, and the song envelops us in a cocoon of strong emotions as it goes. When it comes to the end of the song, we just say to ourselves that it was too short and we play it back from the beginning without even thinking about it.
Then let's move on to this little gem that is the video, which gives us the fatal blow.
It begins with this text, in relation to the current global containment context:
In 2020, people across the entire world self-isolated and put their lives on hold.
We asked them what they planned to do with their time.
Here’s what they said.
There follows a whole slew of written and video testimonials. You can see that the band's fans are finally taking the time to sit down and do what they love. Their activities parade before our eyes, each one more brilliant than the next, and their creativity is terribly inspiring. What also emerges from this video is that people take advantage of this special situation to spend time with their loved ones.
The video ends, and yes it feels good to see such a burst of love and creativity.
The single on listening platforms is accompanied by their two previous singles: Shh! and Hate Me (Sometimes), very different but also extremely qualitative, where the musical style is sometimes reminiscent of the band With Confidence.
In summary, Stand Atlantic reveals today a real bombshell, to listen to again and again without restriction.
